[DoverPost.com - March 20 and 21, 2012] Delaware State University (DSU) history Professor Jahi Issa (pictured above) was arrested by DSU police during a protest on campus on February 29, 2012. Dr. Issa believes his First Amendment right to peaceably assemble was violated. DSU officials had no comment on the pending investigation. UPDATE (YourBlackWorld.net Sept. 2012) reports:
Dr. Jahi Issa was formerly employed by DSU as a professor of American History and Africana Studies. On August 17, 2012, Dr. Issa was fired by the HBCU for reasons attributed to an arrest he received on campus during a rally organized by the school’s students . . . to protest the recent firings of favored black professors at DSU. After the melee, Delaware State Attorney Beau Biden’s offices filed Class A misdemeanors against the former professor. Dr. Issa is set to go to trial on October 22, 2012.
